Numbers: most popular Tysto commentaries

In early June 2010, I started using the PodPress WordPress plugin to make my commentaries available on iTunes. A side benefit is that it tracks the downloads and displays the information simply and in versatile ways. I wish I’d been using it all along, because it’s been great to see the number of listeners I have.

Here are the most-downloaded commentaries since installing the plugin and the number of downloads to date….

  1. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (295)
  2. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (292)
  3. Westworld (289)
  4. The Fifth Element (278)
  5. Star Wars 4 – special ed. (274)
  6. Diamonds are Forever (270)
  7. Star Wars 4 – theatrical cut (265)
  8. Nosferatu (243)
  9. Sharktopus (192)
  10. Live and Let Die (186)

Here are the most-downloaded commentaries prior to installing the plugin; these numbers obviously don’t include the downloads before June 2010 (and the earliest commentaries date to December 2006).

  1. Seinfeld “Kenny Rogers Roasters” (197)
  2. Horror of Dracula (191)
  3. Alien (154)
  4. The Princess Bride (152)
  5. Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (139)
  6. Curse of Frankenstein (135)
  7. The 39 Steps (135)
  8. Back to the Future (134)
  9. A Fistful of Dollars (131)
  10. tie: Iron Man, King Kong – 1933, Star Trek – 2009 (124)

Least popular… (less than 70 downloads)

  1. La Dolce Vita
  2. The Sentinel
  3. The Sixth Day
  4. Foul Play
  5. Murder at 1600
  6. Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus
  7. Wizard of Oz
  8. Casablanca
  9. The American President
  10. 48 Hrs.

This suggests that I should think about doing some more Seinfeld and Hammer Horror and also that you people have no taste. I mean, seriously, Wizard of Oz, Casablanca, and Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus are at the bottom of the barrel?! Now, these were all released years ago, except for MS vs GO, and even that was released before I installed the download plugin, so maybe you all leaped on those and devoured them, and I’m only seeing the long tail. Still, it makes me wary about doing other classics like Citizen Kane and Mega Python vs Gatoroid….

I invite your comments.
