How GWB is creating a sane world2004.04.08 Government | War | George W Bush | by Barton Castor
Democrats don't like to admit it, but George W Bush has put the fear of America back into rogue nations around the world. The policy of the Clinton administration to work thru diplomacy toward peace is a failed one. No amount of cajoling will turn the head of a bloodthirsty dictator. War is a necessary tool, and America wages it best and most justly.
Only Clinton's troops-on-the-ground Serbia-Kosovo deployment stopped the genocide in that part of the world. But it was a fairly weak peacekeeping effort that didn't create a strong deterrent to other warlords and dictators. George W Bush has put the world's bloodthirsty bastards on notice that the US is going to be watching and may just step in and dump their sorry asses on the ash heap of history. Iraq has been a struggle only in the sense that Americans and Europeans who lack a strength of will stand on the sidelines wringing their hands over every casualty. War is messy and ugly, and anyone who thought otherwise was kidding themselves. The great majority of Iraqis welcomed us openly and cheered the destruction of Saddam and his sons. Only the insurgence of a small number terroriststhe very people we went in afterhas limited our ability to unite and pacify the country.
Don't believe the media bias for blood and trouble and think that our military is losing control. There has never been a better trained, better equipped, better organized, or better supported military in history. Without leveling whole neighborhoods suspected of harboring terrorists, no army could expect to pacify a whole nation of squabbling Islamic fundamentalists without suffering casualties, even if most of them do view us favorably. But we will persevere. Our president and his staff are resolved to see the effort thru and bring peace, prosperity, and democracy to Iraq and to make it a model to other Middle Eastern nations. Then, we will have an example to hold up to others like Iran and North Korea to make it clear that their brand of murderous tyranny will not be allowed to stand. That doesn't mean we'll invade their countries (necessarily). But it does mean that we may use tactical missile strikes or special forces to decapitate their regimes or destroy their ability to make or use chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons. Tolerating their kind, as Democrats and Europeans have done in the past, will only encourage their evil deeds and ensure that they have a long and bloody rule. When it is clear that America has the guts to ensure world peace and democracy, then we'll be well on our way to actually having world peace and democracy.
