I can't believe I'm actually writing an article about the Michael Jackson trial. God damn. Here at Tysto we try to more or less ignore the BigStoryOfTheDay in favor of stuff that is actually meaningful. Maybe Andrew Cole should have reported on this. It's not news; it's theater.

I've never really liked Michael Jackson. I didn't enjoy his preening pop songs. I didn't enjoy his squealing form of singing (quick: name a Michael Jackson ballad*). I didn't enjoy his self-conscious dancing. I didn't enjoy his ridiculous wardrobe style. Everything he did might have been scripted by a cartoon gag writer from the 1940s.

"I AM NOT MY FATHER" embroidered on them in gold thread.

But I never doubted that he was just a big kid who loved children and was not a creep. He clawed his way out of an emotionally—and possibly physically—abusive childhood to become a huge star... and then began suffering from a debilitating skin condition that changed his looks almost as much as his obsession with plastic surgery did. His lunatic costumes might as well have "I AM NOT MY FATHER" embroidered on them in gold thread.

Is he messed up? Hell yes. However...

Michael Jackson does not molest children.

Michael Jackson does not molest children. How do I know this while dozens of professional news media people don't? Pedophiles fantasize about sex with children pretty much exclusively, and they molest children more or less compulsively. In other words, they molest almost any children of the right gender that they can get time alone with. Jackson had a variety of pornography in his possession but no child pornography and has had access to hundreds of children, only two of whom have accused him of molestation and only under questionable circumstances (that is, with the obvious possible motive of extortion, this time by a deranged woman and her con-artist husband).

If Jackson was a molester, dozens of young men would be coming forward....

Worse, the prosecutor who investigated him may hold a grudge and seems willing to bend the rules to get evidence against him. If Jackson was a molester, dozens of young men would be coming forward to tell of indecent acts he performed on them when they were impressionable boys; that's what happened to Catholic priest pedophiles.

The worst Michael Jackson may guilty of is contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and even that is starting to look like a weak case. The wine-in-a-Coke-can trick the prosecution claims was Jackson's regular method of seducing boys turned out to be invented by a flight attendant to make it non-obvious to kids that Jackson was having wine on his flight.

And I thought he had purposely "lightened" his skin color. The things I learn reading the Tysto site, Tysto pronounced with a short i sound. Who is Dan Adams? [He has said that it's vitiligo. He's been accused of "bleaching" his skin. But I'm not sure there even is a way to permanently lighten your skin. Dan Adams is the dude on MSNBC who talks about Michael Jackson all the time. —DJ].
